MapObjects Desktop Developer's Kit
MapObjects® software is a powerful collection of embeddable mapping and
geographic information system (GIS) components. Developers can use
MapObjects to create applications that include dynamic live maps and
GIS capabilities.
Now you can add dynamic mapping and GIS capabilities to your existing
Windows applications or build your own custom mapping and GIS solutions.

MapObjects is an ActiveX control (OCX) with more than 45 programmable
ActiveX Automation objects that can be plugged in to many standard
Windows development environments such as Visual Basic, Visual C++,
Delphi, and PowerBuilder.
Key Features
On-the-fly projection lets users
combine data from any projection into a common projection for viewing
and analysis. Also, any Map Layer can be exported into a new projection.
Unparalleled data support
offers direct support for a wide variety of native data formats. This
includes standard GIS, CAD, image compression, and a variety of image
formats, as well as ArcSDE (Spatial Database Engine) databases; common
military formats; and others.
State-of-the-art geocoding engine
allows for fast and accurate address matching capabilities
including support for international addresses and reject processing.
Enhanced GPS management
supports tracking for points, lines, and polygons.
Improved data handling
provides powerful spatial and attribute filters to optimize performance.
Developers can also access the ArcSDE API directly from MapObjects
applications. Both vector and raster data layers can be rotated, and
image transparency is also supported.
Geometric Funtions
include a robust spatial geometry library for unions, intersections, and buffers.
ArcExplorer components
consist of the Visual Basic source code for the legend, toolbar, and
scale bar. ArcExplorer, ESRI's freely distributable GIS data browser,
was built with MapObjects software.
Comprehensive collection of geographic data
includes five CDs with more than 3 gigabytes of ready-to-use data.
Rich set of powerful mapping and GIS component tools
for display, query, and analysis of dynamic map data.

MapObjects LT
The lightweight, royalty-free version of ESRI's powerful GIS and
mapping components.
With MapObjects LT it's surprisingly simple to add low-cost,
royalty-free mapping capabilities to your applications. If you know
your way around Visual Basic®, Delphi®, Visual C++, PowerBuilder®,
Access, or other popular 32-bit programming environments, it's a snap
to add dynamic, live maps.
MapObjects LT is a collection of mapping components for application
developers, consisting of an ActiveX control (OCX) and other
programmable ActiveX automation objects. MapObjects LT is based on the
same industry-standard framework as MapObjects, so you can be assured
you are getting robust state-of-the-art mapping components. MapObjects
LT is specifically designed for developers who have more modest needs
than those served by MapObjects.
